2018-19 Program Schedule

2018
Sept. 26  Presentation on Permaculture with Peter Ash, Certified Permaculture Designer.
 Peter is an organic farmer with over 45 years of experience. 

Oct. 24: Class:  making a succulent pumpkin with Candy Sharda, our Vice-President and Program Chairman.  Bring a medium to large pumpkin, small clippers and cuttings,if you have them.  The club will provide moss and glue.

2019
Jan. 23: Jeremy Bugarchich, Curator of Collections at the San Diego Botanical Garden.  Jeremy will give us a tour of the greenhouses and conservatory.
Feb. 20 Allan Dodd, PHD in Plant Pathology will speak on the
Irish potato famine which occurred in Ireland in Sept. 1845
and continued to 1852.

Mar. 20 Robert Snyder, our Treasurer, will demonstrate indoor and outdoor composting for your garden.

Apr. 24 Field trip to the Orchid Museum where Sarah Moreno will speak on orchid care. Plants will be available for sale.

May  22 Presentation on hummingbirds and butterflies in the garden 
with Master Gardener, Marsha Van Loy.  Marsha will also cover how to ensure healthy soil for your plants. 

June 10 SDGC is Hosting the Palomar District Summer Meeting.
SDGC will provide the luncheon,  Nan Steman, Hostess of 
“A Growing Passion”, a PBS television program.  Nan 
will be presenting garden treasures from Mexico and the 
Southwest.

Field Trip to Garden by the Sea - May 23

Garden by the Sea is a wonderful succulent nursery in Leucadia.  They have imaginative container gardens.  Our talk includes picking companion plants to put in succulent pots.  Check out their website
